GEC Watch: Top three Hindi GECs witness drop in ratings; Sony retains numbers

Star Plus, Zee TV and Colors lost numbers in Week 26 of TAM. Sony maintained its status quo, while the second rung Hindi GECs, Life OK and SAB TV, saw a marginal rise in viewership.

Star Plus, Zee TV and Colors have seen decrease in the number of viewers in Week 26 of TAM (June 23-29) as MSM's flagship channel Sony Entertainment Television (SET) maintained its hold on eyeballs generated during the previous week. Meanwhile, the second rung Hindi GECs - Life OK and SAB TV - have managed to gain marginally.

Despite a loss of 11 GRPS, Star Plus continues to maintain its lead in the genre with 232 GRPs, as per TAM data (C&S, 4+, HSM, including LC1 markets) provided by a subscriber. Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai maintained status quo with 3 TVRs. Four of Star Plus' shows have found places in the top viewed shows' list. Meanwhile, Star Plus' only reality show on air, 'India's Dancing Superstar', clocked 1.8 TVRs on June 29 (Saturday) and 2 TVRs on June 23 (Sunday).

Zee TV held onto the second position with 197 GRPs, 12 GRPs down from Week 25. Zee TV's four shows also found place in the top shows. The channel had premiered the Hindi feature film, Barfi that recorded 2.1 TVRs in its first airing on June 23 at 1 pm. The Ranbir Kapoor-Priyanka Chopra starrer ran for three-and-a-half-hours, contributing about 15 GRPs to the channel. It clocked 0.9 TVRs in its second airing at 5.45 pm on the same day.

Colors, meanwhile, lost four GRPs to register 184 GRPs in the week ended June 29. Three of its shows feature in the top viewed shows' list. The channel's primetime property, celebrity dancing reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, rated 2.3 TVRs on Saturday and 1.7 TVRs on Sunday.

At No. 4 is Sony that maintained its status quo with 149 GRPs. The shows of the channel have seen very minute changes in their ratings. Two shows of the channel occupy different positions in the top shows' chart.

At No. 5 is Star Plus' sister GEC Life OK with 142 (last week 136) GRPs, followed by Sony's sister channel SAB with 139 TVRs (last week 138 GRPs).

Sahara One concluded the week with 19 GRPs (20 GRPs last week).

Star Plus' Diya Aur Baati Hum rules the roost of the top programmes in the Hindi GECs with 3.9 TVRs, down from 4.2 TVRs last week. It is followed by SAB's Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma that notched 3.6 TVRs during this week.

Zee TV's Qubool Hai stands at No. 3 with 3.5 TVRs, followed by Star Plus' Pyaar Ka Dard which clocked 3.3 TVRs. Pyaar Ka Dard shared the spot with Zee TV's DID Super Moms which got the same ratings.

The fifth spot is shared by the two shows from Star Plus' bouquet- Saathiya Saath Nibahana and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai as both of them recorded 3.2 TVRs.

At No. 6 is Colors' Balika Vadhu and Comedy Nights with Kapil with 2.9 TVRs, followed by Zee TV's Sapne Suhane Ladkpan Ke with 2.8 TVRs. Sony's C.I.D took the eighth position in the hierarchy. Meanwhile, Colors' Madhubala and Zee TV's Pavitra Rishta shared the ninth spot in the chart with 2.5 TVRs.

Indian Idol (Sony) occupied the 10th spot in the most viewed show's list with 2.4 TVRs on Saturday.
